Jounin Exam, Squad D: Test 2 ~ Part 1

"So, now what?" asked Raiden as he threw his heavy back pack on the ground. The newly formed Squad D, which consisted of Raiden Yuki, Nadeshiko Amatou, and Yukiko Fujihara, had just found a perfect spot to camp at for the duration of their stay in the forbidden forest. It was a small clearing, surrounded by trees, out of any direct paths that led to the Hitomebore shrine. There was a river a few minutes away, so they wouldn't be short of water either.

The second test of the chunin/jounin exam begun an hour ago. All the examinees, the ones taking the chunin and jounin exams were sent to the forbidden forest to spent a week in. But they was a twist. The chunin examinees did not know that the jounins examinees are in the forest with them too, and that they had a bigger role in this exam than they would ever expect.

"I'm not sure...." said Yukiko as she gently kept her bag on the ground and proceeded to sit on it. "We are told to drive the genins out of the forest.... so we should go genin hunting I guess."

"Maybe we should discuss what we are going to do first" said Nadeshiko, who was opening up her bag, probably to let out her tent. "It won't do good to just jump in without planning things out."

"That's true" Said Yukiko "We will need a proper plan if we want to hunt the genins out."

"Wait" said Raiden, approaching the two girls "We aren't really going to drive them out, are we?"

"Of course not" replied Nadeshiko at the same time when Yukiko said "Of course we are."

The three squad members looked at each other awkwardly for a few minutes, not sure of what to say next.

"Our assignment is to drive out the genins" Yukiko said, standing up and breaking the awkward silence "and prevent them from passing their test."

"We can't do that" said Nadeshiko, "They've worked so hard to get promoted, I know my brother has."

"I agree with Nadeshiko" said Raiden "We shouldn't jeopardize their chances of promotion just so we can pass. We can't betray our comrades."

"But this is just an exam" said Yukiko "It's not like we're going to let them die."

"Yukiko" Raiden called out and walked up to her. He caught her by her shoulders and shook her "Did you just hear yourself."

The other two members of the squad could clearly see the calculating look in Yukiko's eyes. They were slightly narrowed down in deep thought, then a few moments later, they went back to normal. She sighed and said "It did sound wrong...."

She moved Raiden's hands away and sat down on her bag again "but I'm not fully convinced." she continued "We can't let them go away that easily."

"That's true too, we can't completely neglect our task" said Nadeshiko "We need to come up with a plan that will test the genins, but at the same time, make sure that they don't fail."

"Why don't we play pranks on them" said Raiden, sporting a mischievous grin. Hearing this, a spark of true delight flashed across Yukiko's eyes and her expression mirrored Raidens.

"Oh, that sounds like a good plan" said Yukiko, beaming "There are so many things that we could do."

Squad D then started discussing their plan of action, getting most of the 'ideas' from Raiden and Yukiko, who clearly looked overjoyed at the prospect of pranking the upcoming chunins. Nadeshiko looked a little scared at the enthusiasm of her other two teammates, wondering what she might have done in her past life to bear this.

"Now that our plan is more or less ready," said Yukiko "we should head out.... search for our victims."

"But what will we do about this place?" Raiden asked "we can't just move out of here only for it to be stolen by another team."

"Hm... you're right" said Nadeshiko "Maybe we should go in pairs. Have one person stay here at all times to protect our belongings."

"That's a good idea." said Yukiko "So maybe two of us should go hunting for some victims..... Hey Nadeshiko, how about joining me?"

"Okay...." replied Nadeshiko "I mean if Raiden does not have any objection in staying here."

"Sure....." said Raiden "If you think you two can handle it, I don't mind staying."

"Excellent" said Yukiko, beaming "Since you're staying here anyways, why don't you be a sweetheart and set our tents up." She opened her bag and removed her tent, handing it to Raiden.

"Wha-?" Raiden tried asking the two, but Yukiko caught Nadeshiko by her hand and dragged her out the clearing, leaving poor Raiden all alone to set up their tents.

"I just hope we don't stumble upon my brother" said Nadeshiko, once she and Yukiko were a safe distance away from Raiden, and Yukiko let go of her "I'm not sure if I'll be able to work against him."

"Oh yeah, don't worry about that" replied Yukiko "We'll just ignore his team and search for another one."

"Okay, we are back" announced Yukiko, to Raiden, who had not only set up the tents, but also created a small fire and found some logs for them to sit on. He didn't seem pissed though, so Yukiko thought she could let her guard down. "And we found ourselves some victims."

"They are a nice team" said Nadeshiko "We shouldn't be too hard on them."

"We need to make sure that they are good enough" said Yukiko "and these are just measly pranks to test them. If they can't handle them, they don't deserve to be Heart Shrine Ninja's."

"Okay then," said Raiden, motioning the other two to take a seat on the logs "Tell me about our victims."

"Well, we have found a very talented team. Daisuke, Kiyomi, Sora Amatou, and Yasashi Fujihara" said Yukiko "a bunch of smarty pants, they are..."

"All of them have high stats in intelligence" said Nadeshiko "maybe we should try and make a few adjustments in our plan to make it more..... believable."

"How do you guys know their stats?" asked Raiden.

"Because we are that awesome" replied Yukiko "and we stumbled upon them while they were discussing their strengths and weaknesses."

"They could be lying" said Raiden "to throw us off guard."

"But they don't even know we're here" said Yukiko "And one of them is from my clan, so I know that they aren't lying about her at least."

"And if they are lying about their high intelligence stats," said Nadeshiko "it will work in our favor anyways."

Squad D woke up early the next day, to implement their plan. Yukiko spent her time writing certain things on various scrolls and Raiden and Nadeshiko pinned them up some trees around the genins campsite. They made sure not to be spotted, and ran away as soon as they were done. They had to trigger the thought process in the genins minds for the prank to have a better effect.

Later that night

"That's Sora Amauto" said Nadeshiko. The chunins were hiding in a bush, a distance away from the genins campsite. "He's the only one who is weak at genjutsu from that team."

"And that's all we need" replied Yukiko, grinning. Bringing her hands together, she did the necessary seals to cast her genjutsu. Sora, who was the only member awake to guard the area and watch out for things, was in for a surprise. Yukiko contemplated using her Kekkai Genkai for this, but it seemed to extreme and she might end up scaring herself with it.....

So there Sora was, sitting alone just watching out for signs of threat, when he saw something from the corner of his eye. He looked left immediately, but saw nothing there. He decided that it was just his imagination and brushed it off. Talking about legends all day was probably messing with this mind. And the message on those scrolls too. But those were just harmless jokes.....right?

For the next ten minutes, Sora kept seeing this figure, that morphed from just a shadow to a solid image. But he could never look in time to see what or who that figure was. He wanted to tell his teammates about it, but if he woke them up, and the image was just paranoia, his teammates would be pretty annoyed with him so he should look into this matter on his own.

The next time he saw this shadow, he got up and walked towards it. He was certain he saw a person standing behind the tree, but once he reached it, he found no one. Strange, maybe he was just imagining things. He turned to go back to his place, when he saw someone opposite him, on the other side of their campsite. It was a tall, thin humanoid figure, wearing a suit with a tie. He was extremely pale had no face. He had tentacles coming out his back.

A loud scream was heard.

The chunins of squad D had just made it to their campsite, laughing all the way. Yukiko had deactivated the genjutsu the moment Sora saw Slender man, so that by the time he would react, he would be back in reality and his scream would be heard by his team mates too. Then they made a dash for it, before the other members of their team would start searching the area.

"His face......" was all Raiden could say before falling in another laughter fit.

"This is the best prank I've ever played...." said Yukiko between her own laughter fit "The environment was too good to pass...."

"I wish we would have stayed to see what happened" said Nadeshiko, between her own fit of giggles "I hope we weren't too hard on him."

"Don't worry" said Yukiko, trying to stop laughing, but was highly unsuccessful. "The others might convince him that it was just his imagination."

15 minutes later, once the three team members finally gained their composure and stopped laughing.

"You think we've scared them enough?" asked Raiden "Will they be able to handle another round?"

"If they couldn't handle this, they don't deserve to be chunins" said Yukiko "but they seem like a strong team. I don't think they'll go down this easily."

"You're right" said Nadeshiko "but will they last for the entire week."

"They better do" said Yukiko "as much of confidence I have in our pranking abilities, I hope that our genins aren't that weak to run away because them."

"We did mess with their minds pretty bad though, didn't we." said Raiden "The scrolls were a winner. That got them paranoid in the first place."

"Yes," replied Yukiko "too bad I didn't bring a book instead of a spare scroll. But slender-messages on the scrolls worked too I guess."

"Are we going to do the same tomorrow?" asked Nadeshiko "Because if we repeat the same thing again and again, they might figure our prank out."

"We won't do the exact thing" replied Yukiko "We will pin up the notes on some trees again, but we won't  have Slender man visit them this time. We'll let their imagination take over."

"That's right" said Raiden "We still haven't done our worse though. Let's have some more fun with these kids."
