RPG Final Boss- Guild 5 - Part 3

The guild of Marksman, Rogue, Illusionist and Bard continued walking through the forest on the way to the Evil Lair in order to rescue Prince Momo. Yukiko the Bard was currently reading the map and Narrating the direction while Ayumi the Rogue was scouting ahead. Natsumi the  Marksman watched their backs while Ubume the Illusionist just sleep-walked with them.

Suddenly, Ayumi stopped in her tracks. Yukiko, who did not notice this bumped into her and Ubume who was sleep-walking walked into the two of them, knocking them off their feet. A bit of angry murmuring later, the guild untangled themselves from the pile with Natsumi's help and stood back up. Leaving behind her previous discomfort, Ayumi looked alert once again. Natsumi's expression changed too, seems like the two of them noticed something.

"Do you sense that?" Ayumi asked.

"Yes" replied Natsumi while Yukiko and Ubume said "No". Natsumi continued "The aura..... seems strong.....and familiar, yet different for some reason."

The guild decided to hide in the trees and watch out for the originator of this powerful aura. They hid in a big enough tree that covered them completely. Ubume the illusionist cast an illusion around them just to be safe. As they waited for their potential enemy to appear, the guild discussed their real time strategy. The originator of the aura came in sight and this shocked everybody. It was Fei, the Assassin..... But it cannot be.

"It's Fei, the Assassin" Said Natsumi "But that's not her aura."

"It seems so... evil" said Ayumi.

"'The great warriors of our days have suddenly turned against us'" Yukiko quoted Satsu "So this is what Satsu-sama meant by that."

The rest of the guild were unwilling to accept this, but they knew that Yukiko was right. The evidence was in front of them.

"I say we stay out of her way" said Natsumi "I don't know how we will be able to fight her without physically harming her. "

The rest of the guild agreed, Fei was their companion, they wouldn't be able to fight against her.

Fei the Assassin had just passed their tree and the guild were about to sigh a breath of relief when Fei suddenly appeared in front of them. She sliced the air with one of her dual swords, almost beheading Natsumi in the process. Luckily though, the members of this guild jumped off the tree in time to avoid the trenchant attack.

"You broke through the illusion" said Ubume, stating the obvious.

"It wasn't that  difficult" replied Fei with a confident smirk.

"There's only one thing I can do now...." Said Ubume. As soon as she finished her sentence,  she aimed her wand at Fei. Mumbling a couple whispered enchantments, Ubume closed her eyes as the end of her wand started glowing a bluish hue.  When she opened them back, the blue light turned pink and fired an object at Fei. The effort was proven useless though as Fei just back handed the object and it flew back towards Ubume, falling at her feet. Everyone present on the field looked down at that object. They were dumbstruck as they realized that the object was a chicken leg......

"Really Ubume, a chicken?" Asked Ayumi.

"It's a poisonous chicken..." replied Ubume.

"And I wouldn't expect any less from you" Yukiko said monotonously.

"Well, my work here is done" deadpanned Ubume and fell on the ground.

"Is... Is she okay?" asked Natsumi, unsure of what to make of the situation.

"She's fine, just taking a nap" replied Yukiko "Let's just leave her alone and concentrate on the fight."

Natsumi was about to say something else, but then they heard snoring. Shrugging, the awake members of the guild turned towards Fei, who was watching the entire scene with an evil grin that didn't suit her face.

"Snap out of it Fei" Natsumi said "This isn't the real you."

"What do you know about reality" asked Fei as she ran towards Natsumi to attack her, short sword in hand. Ayumi got in between them in time to deflect Fei's attack. Natsumi took advantage of the time and pulled out her bow and arrow, reading herself to attack Fei.

"Be careful" yelled Yukiko "Try to disarm her and cause as less damage as possible."

Meanwhile, Ayumi and Fei were engaging in a sword battle with their dual swords/daggers. Yukiko had her Horagai ready, waiting for a good opportunity to start playing. Just then Fei gave Ayumi a final push and jumped back. The guild were a bit curious to see her next move, but were being cautious as well.

"You people are not as bad as I thought you would be" she said with the same evil smirk "Let me tell you what, let's play a game. I ask you 3 riddles and based on how many you answer correctly, I will let you pass, let's make a deal."

"How do we believe you" yelled Ayumi "You may be our comrade, but you are controlled by somebody else. How can we trust you?"

"Don't worry too much" replied Fei "The riddles were part of the original scheme. Our boss likes to have fun, so she decided to add the riddles to make things more interesting. You should be honored that I find you worthy of partaking in this."

The three girls looked at each other for confirmation. Maybe if they answered the riddles correctly, they could avoid unnecessary violence.

"W-we agree" Natsumi said out loud, still a little unsure.

"Okay, Riddle 1" Fei started without any further notice "Long and deadly and created to kill. Riddle 2, White and red will blend together and this is what you get, Riddle 3, A fine edge that can induce a shrill pain."

The guild tried to keep a straight face, but from their expressions, Fei could easily understand that they were very confused. She continued, "Answer the riddles correctly, and you will win, but till then, we fight" Saying this, she attacked Ayumi again. Ayumi tried avoiding the attack and only used defensive strategies. Since both of them had short dual swords, Ayumi was falling a bit short on defense. Natsumi, on the other hand decided that she should try pinning Fei down with the arrows while Yukiko started playing on her Horagai. She used an enhancing technique  that would hopefully help them think better.

Ayumi deflected Fei's sword and moved behind her "I think the answer to the first riddle should be a katana" yelled Ayumi. Yukiko had the same thought and wished that at least one of them would have had a Katana as the fight would have been easier for them, it would increase their area of effect. Suddenly, Fei turned around quickly, her sword making contact with Ayumi's skin. Ayumi jumped back in time, but Fei's sword still managed to scratch her.

"Ayumi!!!", Natsumi yelled out, worried for her pupil.

"I'm okay sensei, it's just a paper cut." Ayumi replied. Suddenly, her eyes widened and she yelled out. "I know, the answer to the third riddle is paper cut."

"Are you sure, Rogue" asked Fei "Should I take it as your final answer?"

Before Ayumi could answer back, Yukiko intervened, "I don't think that's the right answer, Ayumi."

"Do you have a better suggestion" Ayumi asked Yukiko.

"I think the answer should be something like a sharp spear.... or something sharp" Yukiko replied back.

"Well, any blade can induce a shrill pain, but something more notorious would be papercut. It is caused by fine edged paper, and the pain is severe. " Ayumi answered.

"Yeah, but the answer is too weird, I cannot agree with it" replied Yukiko "I still say that a sharp edge caused the pain."

"I' not sure what to say," intervened Natsumi "both the answers makes sense."

"Well, answer quickly," said Fei "I don't have the time to waste on weaklings like you."

"I think it's papercut" said Ayumi.

"I have a feeling that the answer is sharp edge" said Yukiko.

"I'm not sure.... but I'm leaning towards papercut" said Natsumi. Yukiko felt a little betrayed, but didn't say anything. She just frowned and glared at Fei, who continued to give them the evil smirk.

"You're outvoted" said Ayumi to Yukiko. Then looking at Fei, she continued "We have decided, the answer to the third riddle is Papercut."

Fei's smirk grew eviler than before. The guild weren't sure if that was possible either. "Very well," she said "But you're out of luck, the answer is wrong. Your Guild-mate was correct, Sharp was the right answer. You'll should have stuck with that."

"I told you so," said Yukiko, glaring at Ayumi this time "We should have gone with my answer."

"Let's not dwell in the past" said Ayumi, returning Yukiko the glare "We need to discuss the next riddle."

"'White and red will blend together and this is what you get'" said Natsumi "What do you think the answer to this is?", asking Ayumi's and Yukiko's opinion.

"Hm.... I think the answer is something like blood...." answered Ayumi "like a bloody katana."

As Yukiko thought about the answer, her eyes wondering around, she happened to look at her cloak. A little bulb in her head lit up and she yelled out.

"PINK. The answer to the second riddle is pink" Ayumi was about to interrupt Yukiko, but she continued "And this is our final answer."

"What the hell, Yukiko" Ayumi yelled "You didn't discuss the answer with us."

"If we did discuss it," Yukiko said "We'd have ended up nowhere. I just saved us the time."

Frowning a little, Fei answered, "Well, you answered the riddle correctly." Suddenly, the a large slash appeared on her arm and blood started to spill out "And managed to injure me."

"Well, that was a total kill steal" yelled Ayumi at Yukiko.

"How was it a kill steal?" asked Yukiko "You were thinking about a bloody Katana, I answered pink. They have no relation with each other, whatsoever."

Ayumi humf-ed and the guild looked at Fei once again. Despite her injury, the evil smirk had grown larger. The aura around her felt more evil than before too.

"You answered one riddle correctly, time to take this to the next level."

The moment Fei said that, the ground begun to shake. The awake members of the Guild looked at each other in panic while the sole asleep member, Ubume continued to snore like nothing was wrong. Cracks started forming all around the ground and the guild actively tried to avoid falling in them. Emerging from those cracks were...... something. They couldn't make out what those things were as most of their bodies was still underground.

"Looks like the boss decided to send some help" said Fei.

The shaking had stopped and the guild finally saw the things that had emerged from the ground. Half decaying beasts of many kinds. There were tigers, hippos, warthogs, Wolves and many more animals than they could identify. Yukiko thought she saw an ordinary monkey transform into a gorilla, but that couldn't be right... Fei was right, this fight has reached on a whole new level. They really needed to get the way through this.

Since these were zombie animals, the guild did not have to think before attacking them Ayumi slashed with her dual swords, Natsumi shot the bows after bows, one after the other at such a speed that it hardly looked like she was moving. Yukiko used a couple spells to divert the zombie-animals away from her.

A couple zombie-snakes were getting too close to Yukiko and she walked in reverse, trying to avoid them. She backed into something, and tripped, too late to prevent herself from falling and she fell on her butt. She looked at the thing she bumped into and realized that it was Ubume. Yukiko had forgotten that she was there. One of the zombie-snakes was ready to attack Ubume, but Yukiko used a quick spell and took care of it. If she had wasted any more time, Ubume would have lost an arm..... not that she'd notice.

"We really need to decided on the final answer" yelled Natsumi as she shot a zombie-tiger in its heart "We won't be able to hold on for a longer time."

"I think the answer is a Katana... or another weapon" yelled out Ayumi as she slashed a zombie-monkey in half.

"I agree with Katana," yelled out Yukiko, taking a break from the Horagai.

"It's decided then" yelled back Natsumi. She looked around and spotted Fei, sitting on a hippopotamus "The answer to the first riddle is Katana."

Fei's smirk immediately vanished as the entire ground was covered in a bright pink light. The guild members closed their eyes, to avoid contact and when they opened them back, everything was clear once again. All the zombie-animals had disappeared and Fei was lying on the ground, looking paralyzed.

"I think.... I think we won...." Said Yukiko, cannot believing their luck. Their health wasn't much effected by this onslaught either

"What should we do now?" Asked Ayumi "Do we just leave her here?"

"I think we should" replied Yukiko "It wouldn't do good if we take her with us and her mind is still under control."

"We will leave her here and continue with our mission" Said Natsumi "After our mission is complete, we can get come get her by ourselves, or we can send someone to look out for her.

Agreeing with Natsumi's plan, the guild continued towards the mountain side, waking up Ubume who continued to sleep walk behind them.
